Privacy & your data.
The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and tracks nothing. Below is exactly what happens with anything you choose to share.
What this site doesn't do.
hanrahan.cloud is a static website hosted in Ireland. It does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, or any third-party tracking. The one thing it can keep on your device is your choice of dark mode, if you switch it on: a single setting in your browser's local storage that never leaves your browser and that you can clear at any time. You are not profiled or followed across the web.
If you message me.
The contact form on the home page collects your name, email address, and message. These are used for one purpose: to read and reply to your enquiry.
- How it's sent: the message is delivered by email through SMTP2GO, an email-delivery provider acting as a processor on my behalf.
- Who sees it: me. It is not sold, shared, or used for marketing.
- How long it's kept: only as long as needed to handle your enquiry, then deleted.
- Lawful basis: your consent in sending the message, and my legitimate interest in replying.
Standard request logs.
Like almost all web servers, the server hosting this site may keep standard access logs — your IP address, browser user-agent, the time, and the page requested. These exist only to keep the site secure and reliable, are kept for a limited period, and are not combined with anything else to identify you. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
The fingerprint demo stays in your browser.
The whoami page reads characteristics your browser already exposes and computes a fingerprint to show you how tracking works. This runs entirely in your browser — nothing it reads or calculates is stored, logged, or sent anywhere. The location demo only runs if you click the button and explicitly allow it, and the coordinates are shown to you and not retained.
No third-party requests.
Fonts are self-hosted, so loading this site makes no requests to Google or any other third party. Links to external sites (such as GitHub or Volkcraft) are clearly outbound — once you follow them, those sites have their own privacy policies.
What you can ask for.
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data I hold about you
- Have it corrected or erased
- Restrict or object to its processing
- Receive a copy (data portability)
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
